Yes. Your memory, files, and answers stay on your device, and Zenpa never shares them with anyone. A secure connection is only used for things like verifying your account and the optional usage telemetry you control in Settings. Privacy is part of how Zenpa is built.

Zenpa connects with the tools you already use, Finder, Slack, Gmail, Jira, Notion, Teams, and more, with no API setup needed. It pulls your latest memories from them, builds a private memory, and suggests helpful actions like drafting a reply or updating a task.

Yes. It remembers what’s been said, shared, or promised, so you can ask things like “What did I tell Clara about Project X?” or “Did I send the final dashboard version?” and Zenpa will find it for you.

Mostly just to verify your account when you log in. AI processing, memory, and search all happen on your device, so Zenpa keeps working even when you’re offline.

Cloud assistants send your data to remote servers for processing. Zenpa doesn’t. The AI model runs on your Mac, so your files and work memory stay on your device, and it keeps working even without a connection.

What do I need to run Zenpa?

A Mac with Apple Silicon with at least 16GB of RAM. We recommend 10GB of free space to host the models. The AI model runs on your device using your machine’s own processing power. Zenpa is built to stay light in the background and step in when you need it.

Will Zenpa slow down my Mac or drain the battery?

Zenpa is built to be a good neighbor. Heavier work, like indexing and learning, happens when your Mac is idle, and it stays lightweight while you’re working. You shouldn’t notice it until you need it.

Is my data used to train AI models?

Accepted Answer

No, never. Your responses, files, and memory stay on your device and are never used to train models, ours or anyone else’s. There’s no training pipeline ingesting your documents, because your documents never leave your Mac.

How does Zenpa connect to my tools? Do I need API keys?

No API keys, no admin setup. You connect tools like Slack or Gmail with a standard sign-in (OAuth), and the access tokens are stored encrypted on your device, not in our database. You can disconnect any tool whenever you like.

Can my employer or teammates see what Zenpa remembers?

No. The memory Zenpa builds lives only on your device, tied to your account. There’s no shared workspace and no admin console looking over your shoulder: what it learns about your work stays on your Mac.

Why isn’t Zenpa open source?

Zenpa ships as one build, signed by us, and we stand behind it end to end. We’re a small team, and building everything in-house is how we keep the product coherent. It comes down to trust: you always know exactly who’s responsible for what runs on your machine.

What happens to my data if I uninstall Zenpa or delete my account?

Since your memory lives on your device, removing Zenpa removes it with it. When you delete your account, we erase what we hold server-side, like your account details, connection metadata, logs, and feedback. There’s no copy of your work data to delete, because we never had one.

Can Zenpa take actions for me, or only answer questions?

Both. Zenpa can find answers in your work history, and it also suggests helpful actions, like drafting a reply in Slack or Gmail, or updating a Jira ticket. You always review and approve before anything happens; it never acts behind your back.

Does Zenpa sync between multiple Macs?

Not today. Because your memory is stored locally and never uploaded, each Mac builds its own. Private, encrypted sync between your devices is something we’re exploring, without ever putting your work data in the cloud.
